Angela G. Singletary
I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration. -Frida Kahlo
Angela Singletary is currently pursing a Masters in Art Education at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Her graduate studies research seeks to reframe minority representations by critically examining media images. Participants will be encouraged to take control of their representational images through the medium of photography. By incorporating elements of Visual Culture Art Education (VCAE), participants will be encouraged to become social commentators who give a voice to their own stories and recreate narratives that are often overlooked or unheard. Supplemental research will also assesses how VCAE can foster and create positive representations of minority identities and social awareness in K-12 public school environments and interrelated communities.
